The Empire Cafe is now open in the Empire House Hotel on Front Street.  The Cafe’, owned and operated by Tim and Peggy Fehrenbach, offers a variety of comfort foods and regional favorites.

The Cafe’ is currently open only on weekends.  The hours are Friday 5:30 – 10:00pm, Saturday 6:30 am – 10:00pm, and Sunday 6:30 am – 8:00pm.  The facility is also available on weekdays for private meetings.  Offsite catering is available.

The core offerings include a full breakfast menu, along with special recipe goetta, and a selection of sandwiches and salads.  Everything from burgers and fries to homemade Cincinnati-style chili.  Delicious fried chicken is served on Sunday, beginning at 12:00pm.  The dinner menu is an ever-changing variety of specialities.  Some examples are meat loaf, lasagna, pot roast, pork chops, and sweet bourbon salmon.  There are also a variety of seasonal soups and desserts.  Everything is made on-site and using local ingredients when available.  You can call 812-438-2010 each week to get a recorded message listing our specials.  You can also call for carry-out of any menu item.

Peggy and Tim have operated a local catering service for the past several years and decided that their combined love of cooking and catering has prepared them for the next step – a restaurant!  A love of Rising Sun and the beautiful river view made the Empire House a perfect location  Tim and Peggy hope to see you at the Empire Cafe’ and bring your appetite
